Annelise Dohr

owner and teacher at Wädenswil location

I was born, raised, and educated in the UK. I’m a registered primary school teacher with an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and a Master’s Degree in Special Educational Needs. I also hold full CRB clearance to work with children and accreditation from the Swiss Authorities (EDK) to teach all primary curriculum subjects (except German) in Switzerland.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve taught in a range of educational settings, including mainstream and special schools in England, the prestigious English Schools Foundation (ESF) group of international schools in Hong Kong, and Lakeside Bilingual School in Horgen, Zürich.

Since 2009, I’ve dedicated my time, energy, and resources to building Links to Literacy, a venture I’m truly passionate about. I love running my own business, having my own premises, and enjoying the independence of being my own boss. Most of all, I’m deeply passionate about teaching children to read and write, which is where my expertise, experience, and enthusiasm truly shine. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch our pupils’ English skills grow and flourish over the years we teach them.

Yours sincerely,

Annelise

Rebecca

teacher at Erlenmoos and Wädenswil

I am a very experienced, highly motivated and passionate teacher. I love working with children and am excited to create fun, memorable, active learning experiences.

Born, raised and educated in the UK, I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I completed a four year degree in Primary Teacher Education with Qualified Teacher Status at Warwick University in June 2003. I have experience of teaching all primary school age groups in England and Switzerland.

Positions I have held in the UK include Deputy Headteacher, Senior Teacher, Class Teacher, Trainee Teacher Mentor, Newly Qualified Teacher Mentor, Curriculum Coordinator for Music, Science, ICT, Assessment, Personalised Learning and Collective Worship. In Switzerland, I have worked as a Kindergarten and Grade 1 Class Teacher at the International School of Schaffhausen and Grade Level Leader and Class Teacher at Zürich International School. I am experienced in working with children with additional learning needs and designing learning programmes which are tailored to those specific needs.

I live in Wädenswil with my husband and two sons. I am delighted that this gives me the flexibility and opportunity to lead a variety of classes at different times throughout the day.

Yours sincerely

Rebecca

The Dohr Family

Like many small businesses, Links to Literacy is very much a family effort, with everyone pitching in to help it run smoothly.

Annelise's children, Oscar and Mathilda, were the original inspiration for the business. When they started attending a local Swiss Kindergarten, Annelise began teaching them to read and write. Friends soon asked if she could teach their children too, and that’s when she realised she had the foundation for an exciting business idea.

Oscar is currently studying Computer Science and AI but continues to provide technical advice when needed.  Mathilda is a huge help with the accounts, especially when it comes to tackling the yearly tax return. She also loves working with children and will soon be studying for a psychology degree at the University of  Lucerne.

Annelise's husband supports the business on the administrative side, ensuring everything runs seamlessly behind the scenes. He’s also the go-to person for DIY projects and is known for being a whiz at hanging pictures!
