Annelise Dohr

owner and teacher at Wädenswil, Hütten locations

I was born, raised and educated in the UK. I am a registered primary school teacher and my qualifications include an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate of Education and a Master's Degree in Special Educational Needs.  I have full CRB clearance to work with children and accreditation from the Swiss Authorities (EDK) to teach all the primary curriculum subjects (excluding German) in Switzerland.

I have taught for a total of twenty years in a mainstream and special school in England, for the prestigious English Schools Foundation (ESF) group of international schools in Hong Kong and at Lakeside Bilingual School in Horgen, Zürich.

Since 2009 I have invested considerable time, energy and resources into establishing Links to Literacy and it is something I am very passionate about.  I love running my own business, having my own premises and being my own boss. I am equally excited to teach children to read and write because that is where much of my expertise, experience, and enthusiasm lie.  I love observing our pupils' English skills develop over the years that we teach them.

Yours sincerely,

Annelise

Rebecca

teacher at Erlenmoos and Wädenswil

I am a very experienced, highly motivated and passionate teacher. I love working with children and am excited to create fun, memorable, active learning experiences.

Born, raised and educated in the UK, I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I completed a four year degree in Primary Teacher Education with Qualified Teacher Status at Warwick University in June 2003. I have experience of teaching all primary school age groups in England and Switzerland.

Positions I have held in the UK include Deputy Headteacher, Senior Teacher, Class Teacher, Trainee Teacher Mentor, Newly Qualified Teacher Mentor, Curriculum Coordinator for Music, Science, ICT, Assessment, Personalised Learning and Collective Worship. In Switzerland, I have worked as a Kindergarten and Grade 1 Class Teacher at the International School of Schaffhausen and Grade Level Leader and Class Teacher at Zürich International School. I am experienced in working with children with additional learning needs and designing learning programmes which are tailored to those specific needs.

I live in Wädenswil with my husband and two sons. I am delighted that this gives me the flexibility and opportunity to lead a variety of classes at different times throughout the day.

Yours sincerely

Rebecca

The Dohr Family

Like many small businesses, the whole family helps to ensure its smooth running.

In fact, Annelise's children were the inspiration for the whole business! When they attended local swiss Kindergarten, Annelise started teaching them to read and write and after her friends offered to pay her to teach their children too, she realised that she might have a wonderful business idea in the making.

Twelve years after being the first student, Oscar is now an IT whizz!  He worked hard to get Links to Literacy's lessons online at the start of the pandemic and now advises on all technical areas. Mathilda is responsible for the weekly cleaning of the Wädeeswil classroom and she also helps with the accounts, being a particular godsend helping to submit the yearly tax return.  Oscar and Mathilda babysit for some of the families who have their children enrolled with us and help develop their English skills.

Annelise's husband helps with the legal and business side. He's also a  dab hand at putting up pictures and DIY.
